“There was no fat in this set, no time to scratch your arse as ASIWYFA had been calibrated to warp speed bustling through Run Home, Wasps and BEAUTIFULUNIVERSEMASTERCHAMPION. Rory Friers was a Tasmanian devil in constant furious motion whose primary task seemed to be how hard he could push Chris Wee on drums, something Wee was well up to the task of. The measured 7 Billion People All Alive at Once is the closest thing ASIWYFA do for a pause to catch a breath.”

“Instantly it’s clear that this is not the ASIWYFA of years gone by; powerful as they may always have been. This is a band of conquerors, refined by their constant touring schedule and stronger for it. Selecting something like a greatest hits from their four albums they’ve put together a set of killer track after killer track. Playing loud, they reinvigorate songs like ‘Set Guitars to Kill’ and ‘7 Billion People…’ with a might and awe that other bands would sacrifice their teeth for. This is guitar driven music’s most high minded ideal. The sound is ear shakingly raw but the musicianship is polished and solid. The tight but organic changes come in with such clarity and deftness that they’re gasp inducing. It’s relentless and every track comes with a wild light display blasting the senses into a euphoric shambling heap.”

“As a unit, ASIWYFA are incredibly tight.  Chris Wee’s drumming is furious in its perfection, the duelling guitars from Kennedy and Friars are thoughtfully reliant on octave switching to put their point across and the bass playing is strong with Jonathan Adger standing steadfast for the most part and letting the rhythmic pounding do the talking.  It’s infectious too, seeing the guys take so much enjoyment from each others input to the performance and the energy remains high until the encore.  Sliding off and on stage with swift grace, ASIWYFA return to melt our faces and close on ‘The Voiceless.’  Voiceless they aren’t, for Rory proceeds to thank everybody and anybody that has done them a solid over the past few years and it’s heartwarming to see the genuine gratitude and excitement brought about by the support from fans, families and friends of ASIWYFA.

State are exhausted, drained and extremely satisfied with ASIWYFA’s glorious return to their native stage, but can’t help think that surely this can’t be it for 2015.  It would be a tragedy if it truly was.”
